brackets are both precise and effective. These new brackets
allow the teeth freedom of movement and faster results are
obtained with minimal discomfort.
Extremely light forces work with the muscles of the face,
tongue, bones and tissue to allow the body to re-establish
a natural balance. To the patient, this new technique means
a better result in less time, simplified procedures, fewer
appointments and greater comfort.
One of the most dramatic breakthroughs
in orthodontics came from NASA: heat-activated nickel-titanium
alloy wires that effectively move teeth when the wires reach
mouth temperature. These new "Space Age" wires are
made from resilient metals, which are more flexible and retain
a pre-formed shape. These wires apply gradual, precise and
gentle pressures, and yet retain their teeth-moving abilities
longer than their predecessors.
Additionally, these wires are easier to apply and require
fewer wire replacements, which can reduce the number of visits
to the orthodontist for adjustments. The end-result often
is less discomfort and shorter treatment time for the patient.
Orthodontic treatment today is more
efficient and predictable and thanks to modern materials and
improved techniques, patients usually do not need to come
to the office as frequently as was previously necessary.
